Periodos Inkfoot, who styles himself as “Perry the Chronicler” is a Halfling Wordsmith Bard. The third son in a noble family, Perry was sent off to study magic in the hopes that he would become a wizard. Perry’s father envisioned him as a powerful resource towards the family’s goal of ruling the Council of Erasius.

Instead, he fell in love with adventure tales. and decided to become a storyteller. He left his mage school in the middle of the night, leaving behind a letter to explain his choice to his family.

Perry managed to fall in with a group of adventurers headed to Ephebe. He believes that the only way to truly be able to write good adventure stories is to live alongside actual adventurers.

When nervous, Perry has a habit of asking questions. Lots of questions. He styles this as “research” for his adventuring stories, but the questions tend more towards whatever thought appears in his mind.

Background Questions

Who from your community taught you to have such confidence in yourself?

Perry’s brother, Vasilis, was his first receptive audience. As children they would sit together late into the night while Perry told stories. They slowly grew apart as more family responsibility was placed on Vasilis, but recapturing that feeling of entertaining and delighting someone is a core motivation for Perry’s chosen profession.

You were in love once. Who did you adore, and how did they hurt you?

Primula, a fellow halfling at wizarding school. They dated briefly, until he confessed his dreams of becoming a storyteller. She felt the whole idea was frivolous, and that same night he decided to run away in pursuit of his dreams.

You’ve always looked up to another bard. Who are they, and why do you idolize them?

Perry’s Aunt Laila travels the world as a renowned minstrel. As a child she encouraged Perry’s storytelling ambitions, and he sees her as an example that it is possible to break away from the role your family set out for you and chase your dreams.
